San Miguel de Allende Visitors From the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles Can Now Fly Direct to Toluca and Guadalajara on Volaris

October 10 update - We just flew on the new route from Oakland to Leon via Tijuana, and it was a breeze. We cleared customs in Tijuana in a few minutes and hung out in the VIP lounge for $165 pesos while we waited for our connecting flight (free internet and drinks).

July 19 update - We just heard that Volaris will start flying from Oakland to Tijuana in August. Volaris already flies to Leon from Tijuana, so this might be the best option yet for our Bay Area visitors!

As of July 16th 2009, Volaris Airlines, a three-year-old Mexican airline with a fleet of brand new Air Bus A319’s, has begun low-cost direct flights from the Oakland Airport (OAK) to the Toluca (TLC) and Guadalajara (GDL) International Airports.

We did a quick flight search and found a round trip fare of $368.65 from Oakland to Toluca with taxes included. That’s not bad!

Toluca is located 4.5 hours south of Antigua Capilla Bed and Breakfast in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Click here to read about getting to San Miguel de Allende fro Toluca. Guadalajara is a bit further away at 5 hours. For moer information on how to get to San Miguel from Guadahara, click here. The ETN and Primera Plus bus companies both offer comfortable and affordable first-class service from Toluca and Guadalajara to San Miguel de Allende.

We are very excited about this news because, although the Leon Airport (BJX) remains the number 1 choice for most US travelers visiting San Miguel, these flights give our visitors more affordable options to choose from. Now, guests of Antigua Capilla B&B have a choice of five airports, Queretaro (QRO), Leon, Mexico City (MEX), and now Toluca and Guadalajara.

Reserve a room now at our San Miguel B&B before the secret gets out!
